I love beautiful tarot and oracle cards, so for each chapter of each novel I write, I draw a card from one of my decks and read it intuitively. See the bottom of the page for information about the novel.
I’m led to choose from a new deck, the Dark Wood Tarot, for this chapter so we can get a better idea of where Charlie’s head is. The card I’ve drawn is the 9 of Swords. This is especially telling because the last card I drew for Charlie was the 8 of Swords and his conundrum is definitely progressing.
The 9 of Swords card shows a woman in clear distress, and this woman represents Charlie. Behind her is a wall of nine swords. However, as bad as things may seem, none of these swords are touching or harming the woman on the card. The situation is not currently as bad as Charlie thinks. The situation could get worse—the imagined nightmare could come to fruition. But it hasn’t yet.
There’s still time for Charlie to find his way out of the earlier 8 of Swords scenario, but he must make a decision. He’s in the middle of the crossroads—he can move forward in any direction, but he really can’t go backward. From the middle, there is only out. Or he can stand still, but if he can’t make a decision, it will be decided for him.
